About Me

Hello there! I’m Henry Alvarez, a senior-level student at Colorado State University with a big appetite for food and knowledge alike. Born and raised just south of Fort Collins, Colorado, I’m the first Alvarez to know a place outside of Texas as home, though naturally I make sure to visit frequently.

With majors in Political Science, German language, and International Studies, most of my academic life has revolved around learning about new languages, places, and people, so doing a study abroad in Copenhagen is definitely the way to go for me! Aside from experiencing such a rich and diverse city, I am looking forward to adding the following courses and experiences to my library of learning:

  • Humanitarian Law and Armed Conflict
  • Criminology and Criminal Justice in Scandinavia
  • Danish Culture and Language
  • Shadow Wars: Fake News and Hybrid Warfare
  • Counter-Terrorism and Intelligence Analysis
  • A travel week in Kosovo in November
  • A study tour in Brussels (as a Gilman scholar)
  • And so much more!

Outside of my studies, and beyond reading about history and ethnography, I enjoy weightlifting, studying languages, partaking in city life, cooking family recipes (my pico de gallo is especially flavorful), and, when I especially need some downtime, playing videogames. No matter what though, I always make sure to put my best foot forward and be the best version of me that I can be!

I look forward to meeting you all in Copenhagen; I am certain we will all enjoy what it and Denmark have to offer for each one of us! If you ever need to reach out, feel free to email me at Henry.Alvarez@colostate.edu.
